Lots of Sampler baskets competed

As always my to do lists are longer than possible but I did manage to get a lot done during my last short store closure and I have many items partially done.   I haven't made up all the baskets and taken pictures yet but there is a few more to come including some lap and bracelet looms so stay turned.  I am still working on the Reproduction looms and the one treadle but I have to do that in between orders so it will be a little while longer on those.
Here are a few of my favorite things :).

And I also got all the tiny shuttles ready to ship :)

I'll not be loading them with yarn but here is how cute they are if you do :)

Another 2 Treadle Loom before Christmas???

I started a new treadle loom a couple days ago. Super excited to have made the time.  We will see if I am able to get her done in time.
I have the based glued up and it is now out of the clamps waiting on me to plane and sand it before I can get started making all the pockets in it.  Once the top is complete I can then make all the other parts.
I'm thinking of doing this one in Cherry and purpleheart if I have enough purpleheart to make all the parts.  If not I do have enough walnut or paduak so we will have to wait and see what woods I end up using.
So the process has begun, wish me luck.  I'd love to have one ready to make someone's Christmas extra special :)

Oh, and did I mention miniatures?  :)

Handywoman is preparing for Christmas.

With the hustle and bustle Christmas season soon upon us I've been doing my best to get some special items for my shop.  I generally do shuttle sample baskets, small loom baskets and a few of the mini Handywoman box looms some with Christmas scenes.  I'm planning on both of these again this year so I'm already in a mad rush.  :)

I've decided this year to try to do a bit more.  A few stocking stuffers and group gifts (for your guild friends) I think are in order don't you?
For stocking stuffers I'm making minitures of some of my favorite weaving tools... like these, but I can't show you them all yet....

Sets like these can be personalized. :)

But the most exciting thing is...
I'm going to have a few of these 18th century replica box looms available.  As many as I can possibly make.

And I'm going to try really really hard to have at least one of these available.

So there you have it, what to look forward to for Christmas.
Many blessings,
Janet

New Handywoman Box Loom Design

I've finally had the time to make this little box loom.  I found these cute designs on Color box and designed the loom a couple months ago.  I cut her out shortly after and I just now got her all together.  I love this design!!!  So cute :)

Next up, a 18th century reproduction box loom

So here is my next fun project.   I do love making shuttles but it's such a repetitive task so it is so much fun to have something different to work on and I'm always on the look out for a weaving tool I can re-create...  So here is my newest project.  It is a copy (with a couple little useful updates) of an 18th century box loom.   Oh and how lovely she is.  I am making this one using 1/2" cherry but the heddle is 1/4" as I find warping 1/2 inch to be a bit difficult.  The other update I made was to add a wood washer to the ratchet side of the warp reel and I also added wood washers to the opposite side of the ratchet on both the take up rod and warp reel.  The last update I did was to make the heddle removable so that different pattern heddles could be used and I plan on making several different one.  Probably a couple dbl hole patterns, 5 pattern, 7 pattern, 9 pattern 11 pattern and 13 pattern.
Anyway rather than drone on here are some pictures of the process.  I'll post new pictures to this post as soon as she is complete. :)

I placed this little washer because I didn't like the warp the warp reel moved without it.  This keeps the warp reel centered on the stands.
